It has been a real marathon week.6 shows in 5 days, starting from Tuesday morning at the amazing Paste studio.Monika and guitarist Max Shragger kicked off CMJ week in a mellow acoustic way before they took some of NY City’s well known live venues and spread in full band mode their electric disco vibes. Right after their feature “A day in the life of Monika” Paste uploaded Monika’s 3 track acoustic session that took place at magazine’s well crafted studio earlier this week.

Last Thursday, October’s 1st, Monika swung by NPR studio in NYC and interviewed by Scott Simon on NPR’s weekend edition . Talked about her life changing experience as a member of a boat accident back in 2012 and how it became a driving force to make her most danceable record yet.

Leading to album release date, U.K.’s Clash Magazine premiered “Baby Boy” as their “track of the day” on 9/21.There is a cinematic feel on that record and it felt right to have it as the opener on “Secret In The Dark” track list. Lush string arrangements paired with a syncopated bass line create an air of mystery on this disco-noir extravaganza.Clash premiere may not include “Baby boy” on it’s full glory, but you can still get how it sets the NYC vibe on Monika’s new album. U.K. and EU dates are expected to be announced any time soon.

Monika’s album release show in NYC just announced via Brooklyn Vegan. On Thursday 8th of October she will perform with her all star NYC band a special free show at Brooklyn’s infamous Baby’s All Right venue. Following the official release of “Secret In The Dark” album on 10/2 (via Other Music ) the gig is expected to be Monika’s headline NYC show around release date, while in the next couple of weeks is expected to announce the rest of EU and US dates.
